The Career GPS empowers youth and adults to reach  fulfilling, sustainable and socially just careers.  It is used by diverse organisations: Secondary schools, colleges, labour centres, AET centres, NGO’s, skills development agencies, companies…

Career exploration workshops and info-meetings aim at: Raising awareness about study options, in-demand jobs and scarce skills that make a difference in participants’ communities, the environment and society at large; critically analyse the challenges and opportunities in education, the labour market and society; visit diverse educational centres to “taste” potential future study options.

1. Green Your Career Path!

2h. workshop to widen career options by raising awareness about:
  • What is a Green Career Path? Careers that make an environmental difference.
  • What green jobs are out there? In-demand green jobs.
  • How to get ready for a green job? Getting a green education, gaining new skills for green jobs and greening existing skills.
  • What are the benefits of going green in your career path? Personal, social and environmental benefits of green jobs.

This is a workshop to be carried out in-house. Fees: R270 per person (minimum 15 participants).

2. Green Education & Training Opportunities!

2h. workshop to widen career options by learning about education and training programmes that make a differnce for the environment and which available at:
  • Universities.
  • Further Education and Training (FET) Centres.
  • Adult Education and Training (AET) Centres.
  • Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) accreditted green training programmes.

This workshop can be tailored to the needs of participants by focusing in one specific type of organisation (i.e., green education and training programmes offered by universities) or in specific educational sectors (i.e., green programmes in Agricultural SETA). To be carried out in-house. Fees: R270 per person (minimum 15 participants).

3. Green Your Job Skills!

3h. workshop to expand opportunities to find a job  by learning how to green job-related existing skills:
  • What do we mean by greening existing skills?
  • How to green existing skills in…
  1. The fashion sector – Eco Fashion!
  2. The construction sector – Green Construction!
  3. The education sector – Sustainable Education!
  4. The retail sector – Eco Retail!

This workshop can be tailored to other sectors than the specified above (e.g. engineering sector, health sector…). The workshop combines discussions, presentations and exercises for capacity-building on greening existing skills. To be carried out in-house. Fees: R405 per person (minimum 15 participants).
